 The QUEUE DETECTOR™ is a
sophisticated, yet easy to use, warning device that was designed to be
used near work areas, toll booths, or other areas where traffic flow
may change unexpectedly. Its purpose is to give motorists an advanced
warning that traffic ahead has slowed, or come to a complete stop, so
that they may take alternate exits, or at least be better prepared to
stop. The instrument can also be used to inform tollbooth personnel, or
other authorities, that a backup has occurred. The Queue Detector is an ideal solution to the
need for a simple, low cost, queue detection system for highways and
other applications. It is an accurate, durable, reliable and extremely
easy to use and maintain.
ASTI's
Queue Detector can also interface with ASTI's CHIPS system. CHIPS
stands for Computerized Highway Information Processing System. Inputs
can be taken from a series of Queue Detectors on the highway and sent
via radio or hard wire back to the host computer where CHIPS lives and
trigger CMS, VMS or static sign boards.
